The decorative design can be very beautiful, but if the smell doesn’t accompany it, the aesthetics are lame. The environment has to look good… and breathe well. When this happens, the space has real meaning.
In our house we have a very simple idea: a better world is possible, and the raw material is love. A love that does not understand borders, religions or skin colors. A love that is practiced, that is contagious and that makes life more livable for everyone.
Our way of helping is clear: eliminate from the environment what does us no good. Eliminate harmful chemicals and artificial scents that burden us and disconnect us. We defend spaces where the air is clean, friendly and emotionally balanced.
We work only with pure essential oils, without synthetics, and with synergies created by aromatologists, perfumers and biologists. We seek real benefits: olfactory, sensory and physical. Aromas that relieve, comfort and bring well-being.
Each mixture undergoes rigorous analysis to guarantee safety and efficacy, with certifications from the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) and the Spanish Institute of Toxicology. We like to do things well and with respect for all sensitivities.
We work with environmentally friendly crops and recycled, recyclable or biodegradable materials. We want to take advantage of the best of the earth and give it the respect it deserves. Our entire process —from the origin to the final product— seeks coherence and responsibility.
Shizen’na SL was born from a trip to Japan, where we discovered that aroma can be a powerful tool for caring for people. Since then, we have been working to create a more emotionally harmonious and environmentally healthier world. From our homes to wherever we can reach.
Our head of aroma design, Montse Nart , aromatologist and perfumer, gathers the immaculate essences of its plants, flowers and fruit from all over the productive land, to configure impeccable aromas, extracted from the conjunction between nature and the love she has for it.
A graduate in international marketing and an expert in textile printing, she draws on the strength that a world full of colors, natural fibers and knowledge of various cultures around the world has given her, to create collections of pure aromas inspired by aspects of life that respond to a relationship between the environment, the colors it gives off and the specific function that an aroma should have.
Essential oils have various properties that depend on their origin characteristics and Montse takes advantage of them to create synergies (blends or mixtures) that provide all their benefits, giving their special point of attraction that makes the environment, basically, captivating in every sense; as she says, even to the touch, because to feel, it is not essential to touch if you can feel it.
And in the business side, Jordi Castellet , chief executive, brings more than forty years of professional experience in various sectors, but basically in textiles, where he led the business and creative direction of a accessories company. With knowledge of marketing, global markets and trade, he was vice president of the Barcelona Garment Guild and president of the textile sector of PIMEC. At Shizenna he also takes care of making people feel and understand the strength and properties of essential oils with intangible means that do not allow them to be inhaled, such as the internet or graphic images.
Shizen'na's quality is born from a constant search for the best aromatic plants, a job that our team of aromatologists lives with passion and a healthy point of obsession: finding the right plant, at the right time and in the optimal conditions. When we identify it, we precisely study the maturity, the useful part and the point of harvest to obtain essential oils as pure and powerful as nature can offer them, and which will then become coherent, safe and effective synergies.
At Shizen'na we take km 0 as seriously as our first morning coffee: if we can work with aromatic plants from here, we do it without hesitation. And when that's not possible, we look for farms that treat the land with the same respect that we treat the essences. The criteria are simple: native plants when possible, and sustainability always, because a good aroma begins in a well-tended field and not in a rushed laboratory.
Harvesting is that delicate moment when everything can go well… or very well. At Shizen'na we combine non-polluting manual and mechanical processes, always with a careful selection of each plant. We harvest only when it is time —neither before nor after— because the maturity and exact point of the plant are what determine whether we will have a perfect base element or just “almost perfect”, and we are more of the first option.
Distillation is an exercise in precision: meticulous mechanical processes, exact timing (no rush, as plants don't wear clocks) and temperature and pressure controlled to the millimeter. This fine balance is what allows us to extract a pure essential oil that is faithful to the original essence, without damaging any of its properties.
Our synergies are born from the hand of Montse Nart, perfumer and aromatologist, who combines sensitivity, scientific criteria and a deep knowledge of the environment to create coherent and effective mixtures. She studies plants, fruits, aromas and the functionalities of essential oils until she finds the exact combination that really provides benefits. Once defined, the synergies rest in the dark for the time necessary for all the components to integrate harmoniously, and are finally bottled in opaque glass, the ideal container to preserve their quality and purity.
Once the oils can be put into circulation, deliveries are protected with biodegradable materials and with minimal use of packaging paper and cardboard, all of which is recycled.
To get where we are and go much further, at Shizen’na we have collaborators, prescribers and sales delegations in the territory:
